69 Heights High Students Are AP Scholars
Sep. 24, 2024 -- The CH-UH City School District would like to congratulate the 69 members of the Heights High School Classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026 who have been recognized by the College Board for their outstanding performance in Advanced Placement classes from last year. This is an increase compared to last year and is the highest number of scholars recognized in the last eight test administrations.

The College Board, which administers Advanced Placement tests, honors students who score at a consistently high level on the annual exams. Heights High has 35 students named as AP Scholars for earning scores of 3 or higher on three or more exams.

An additional 11 students were recognized as AP Scholars with Honor for earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

And 23 students were named AP Scholars with Distinction for receiving an average score of 3.5 or higher on all exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams. This is the highest number of scholars since 2017 to be named an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Marcus Holland, Class of 2024, has the distinct honor of being awarded the AP International Diploma in addition to being named an AP Scholar with Distinction. The AP International Diploma (APID) is a globally recognized certificate awarded to students who display exceptional achievement across a variety of disciplines. It is a globally recognized certificate for a student who may plan to apply to a university outside of the United States. Students must receive a 3 or higher on 5 or more AP exams that meet the following content areas; two AP Exams from different languages selected from English and/or world languages, one AP Exam designated as offering global perspective, one exam from the science or mathematics content areas, and one (or two) additional exam(s) from among any content areas except English and world languages.

This is the second year in a row that a Heights High student has received the APID.

The students were invited to be recognized for their achievements by the Board of Education and Superintendent Kirby during the Board’s monthly regular meeting on October 1.

Congratulations to these 69 students and all of the Heights High students who stepped up to the challenge of enrolling in AP classes.
