Dear CH-UH Middle School Families,
We are excited to welcome our students back to school for the upcoming academic year. As we prepare for a successful start, we want to inform you about the staggered start days for our middle school students. This approach is designed to ease the transition and help everyone adjust smoothly to the new school year.
Staggered Start Schedule:
- 6th Grade: Wednesday, August 21 (only 6th graders report to school)
- 7th Grade: Thursday, August 22 (only 7th graders report to school)
- 8th Grade: Friday, August 23 (only 8th graders report to school)
- All Students: Monday, August 26 (6th, 7th, and 8th graders report to school)
Reasons for the Staggered Start:
- Yondr Pouch Procedures Rollout: We are introducing the Yondr Pouch system this year to create a more focused learning environment by limiting cell phone usage during school hours. This staggered start is crucial for our morning arrival and dismissal procedures, as it allows us to implement the Yondr Pouch system efficiently and effectively, minimizing any potential disruptions. The staggered start also allows us to systematically introduce and explain this procedure to each grade level, ensuring that all students understand and can smoothly adapt to the new policy.
- Dedicated Time for Each Grade level: On their designated day our students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and learn the routines and expectations of their school and grade level. It also allows us to focus on important climate practices, while creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Focus on Climate Practices: The staggered start also allows us to emphasize our school climate practices as we welcome students back. By having smaller groups on campus initially, we can ensure a more personalized and supportive atmosphere, setting a positive tone for the entire school year.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we implement this staggered start. Our goal is to provide the best possible environment for all students to thrive academically and socially. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
We look forward to a fantastic school year!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth A. Kirby
