Dear CH-UH Families,
As we head toward the last full week of summer break, I wanted to send a note regarding upcoming Back to School events and happenings in the District.
Orientation EventsEvents at Heights High School kick off on Monday, August 16 with orientation/schedule pickup for 10th grade students. On August 17, juniors and seniors can pick up their class schedules. On August 18, freshmen/new students and their families have orientations and the opportunity to see the school. Both Roxboro and Monticello Middle School will hold family
orientations on Thursday, August 19.
Family Connections’ annual
Kindergarten Kickoffs continue next week and are a great way for kindergarten families to get a jump start on grade school. For elementary schools, be on the lookout for messages from your principal regarding additional events.
Chromebook Exchange NightsStudents entering grades 6 through 12 will be receiving brand new Chromebooks before the school year begins. Our IT team is hosting Chromebook Exchange Nights where you can swap your student’s old device for a new one.
If you are/were unable to attend your assigned exchange night, you are welcome to attend one of the newly scheduled nights on Wednesday, August 18 or Thursday, August 19 from 2-7 p.m.

ESSER Funds Community SurveyThe District is eligible to receive one-time federal funds through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III Funds, a component of the American Rescue Plan. The funding must be spent prior to September 30, 2024 and is meant to address the expenses and learning loss related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are seeking input on how to utilize the funds to best meet the needs of CH-UH students, staff, and families. You may take the
CH-UH ESSER Funding Input Survey here. This form complements our End of Year surveys that asked our families and staff about prioritizations for the 21-22 school year.
Social-Emotional & Basic Needs SurveysOur counselors and social workers are busy planning for the 2021-2022 school year. To help them best prepare, PreK-12 students are asked to complete a
needs assessment survey. Parents/guardians may help students who need assistance completing the survey.
Survey for PreK-5Survey for 6-12Strategic Plan Presentation August 17Back in 2020, our District began a refresh process of our 5-year Strategic Plan. The process included engaging our stakeholders in surveys, carefully crafting updates to the plan’s 5 goals, and crafting a new vision statement for CH-UH. During the Board Work Session on Tuesday, August 17, my team and I will present the final components. You can watch the meeting Live on the District’s
YouTube channel beginning at 6:30 p.m.
