Five Elementary Schools Closed August 25 Due to Heat
Aug. 24, 2021 -- Due to the excessive and potentially dangerous heat expected for Wednesday, August 25, the CH-UH elementary schools that do not have air conditioning (Canterbury, Gearity, Noble, Oxford, and Roxboro Elementary) will be closed tomorrow. All after school functions for these schools are cancelled for August 25 as well. We have made this decision in order to keep our children and staff safe.

Kindergarten students at Canterbury, Gearity, Noble, Oxford and Roxboro whose last names start with J-R and were scheduled to start school on Wednesday, August 25 should instead report to school on Friday, August 27. Students whose last names begin with S-Z will come to school on Thursday, August 26 as planned. All Kindergarten students at these schools will report on Monday, August 30 instead of Friday, August 27 for their first day together.

Boulevard & Fairfax elementary schools, Roxboro and Monticello middle schools, Heights High School, Delisle Options Center, and the Board of Education, which all have air conditioning, will remain open. Tiger Virtual Academy will also be in session.

During heat waves such as this, please remember to pack a water bottle for your child so that they can stay hydrated while at school. All schools have water bottle fillers available for use.

We will continue to monitor the weather forecast as the week progresses. Thank you for your understanding, and please continue to stay cool and safe.
