Heights High Students Receive Social Justice, Academic Awards
June 14, 2021 -- Six Heights High School students will receive achievement awards from the Metropolitan Cleveland Alliance of Black School Educators at the organization's Juneteenth Celebration on June 19. The program will acknowledge high school students of African American descent and Black male teachers who have achieved against all odds.

Talented Tenth Award
Sophomores Nogoye Cisse', Jervon Cole, Ashawn Sims, Toni Trent and and Leah Woodson were selected by the Metro CABSE to receive the Talented Tenth award for their outstanding academic performance. Despite the obstacles of COVID-19, these students achieved a 3.8 or above GPA, and 90% attendance.

Drum Major for Justice Award
Sophomore Taylor Evans was selected by the Metro CABSE to receive the Drum Major for Justice award. This award is given to students who demonstrate a great act of service and/or social change in their community. 

The first annual Juneteenth Awards Celebration: Achieving Against All Odds event will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from noon to 3 p.m. virtually on Zoom. The keynote speaker will be Justice Melody Stewart, the first Black elected Ohio Supreme Court Justice.
