Video: Class of 2024 Hosts COVID-19 Vaccination Discussion
June 9, 2021 -- Heights High School's freshman student council members hosted a discussion on the recently developed COVID-19 vaccine. The student council was motivated to host this discussion in order to support their peers in becoming more knowledgeable and aware of the vaccine. A few conversations led them to believe there was hesitancy in getting vaccinated, as well as false information circulating among their peers, so they organized to inform everyone by openly discussing the vaccine with MetroHealth Physician and Heights alumna, Dr. Vanessa Maier.

The council was happy to report that this conversation offered valuable information and clarity about the vaccine. Council President Margo Burke said, "Dr. Maier gave reliable information that cleared up many misconceptions students may have had about the COVID-19 vaccine."

This effort was led by freshman student council president Margo Burke, vice president Briel Price, secretary Diamon Wood, and council members Ethan Petersal, Arthur Schmiedl, and Andy Engelmann. The meeting was held virtually and included Heights High School teacher Ms. Larkins-Forte, school nurses Rose Varcelli and Linda Rudy, Dr. Vanessa Maier from MetroHealth, and Heights High School students.
