June 30, 2021 -- Heights High School Assistant Principal Dr. Alisa Lawson-McKinnie has been named the Interim Administrative Principal to lead Heights High during the 2021-2022 school year.

The District began a nationwide search for its open position of Administrative Principal of Heights High in May. The interview committee has met with five candidates since early June and continues to review new applications as they are received.

“Finding the perfect candidate takes time, creativity, and patience. As we continue this important process, I can’t think of a better leader for Heights High than Dr. Lawson-McKinnie,” said Superintendent Elizabeth Kirby. “She has been an administrator in the District for 8 years, having grown our former Early College, Advanced Placement and current College Credit Plus programs. Dr. Lawson-McKinnie is student-centered and works collaboratively with the administration, teachers, and staff.”

Dr. Lawson-McKinnie will serve in the administrative principal position for the entirety of the upcoming school year.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead Heights High in the upcoming year,” said Dr. Lawson-McKinnie. “It’s a pivotal moment in time for our students, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to provide them with the support and guidance they need to succeed.”

The CH-UH City School District will begin the academic year on Tuesday, August 24.
