Embracing "Each Mind Matters" During Suicide Prevention Month
Sept. 10, 2021 -- September is National Suicide Prevention Month.  Throughout this month, individuals and organizations around the country will join their voices to broadcast the message that “everyone can play a role” in suicide prevention.

This year, Cleveland Heights High School is embracing the "Each Mind Matters” theme which is a California-based mental health movement whose goal is to unite people who share a vision of improved mental health and equality. Heights will encourage their Supportive Transitions initiative. Transitions can be conceptualized as an event or series of events that cause fundamental changes in the fabric of daily life – what people do, where they do it, and with whom. Expected or unexpected, welcomed or unwelcomed – transitions can be unsettling and stressful, impacting our mental health and increasing risk factors for suicide. Feeling connected to friends, family, and our community on the other hand is a protective factor for suicide.

Please take a couple of moments to review the attached brochure that provides information on how to know the signs, find the words, and reach out, as well as tips on raising resilient teens. If you have any concerns for a loved one, reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273- TALK (8255) or the Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741-741. Heights High Guidance and Counseling are also available to support families and students.
