Sept. 20, 2021 -- National GEAR UP Week is coming to Heights High School with a number of interactive activities planned for junior students. The week will kick off with an ice cream social and include other activities that promote college and career readiness.
GEAR UP 2 New Heights (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a program designed to motivate students to start the year strong and finish stronger. The class of 2023 has received educational support from GEAR UP since their 7th-grade year; this support will continue up to 1 year after high school graduation.
GEAR UP 2 New Heights is proud to have created innovative programming and partnerships during the 2020-2021 school year which led to Taylor Evans being named the 2021 National GEAR UP Student of the Year. Dr. Carmen Daniel, GEAR UP 2 New Heights Advisor, believes they have gained momentum to continue pushing forward to expand, grow, and widen the impact at Heights High School.
