Heights High Students Discuss Mental Health During Tiger Talk
Oct. 14, 2021 -- Cleveland Heights High School culminated the Suicide Prevention Awareness activities during the month of September with Dr. Lisa Ramirez from the MetroHealth School Health Program. Students attended two presentations to listen, ask questions, and engage in one on one discussions with Dr. Ramirez.

Eighty-two students participated in the Tiger Talk with Dr. Ramirez where they were given the opportunity to submit anonymous questions on the topics of suicide, mental health, and teen wellness. During this session, they also received tips on how to cope with stressors and recognize warning signs. Prior to this session, students attended viewed short videos and created a positive message banner with Heights High School social workers, Mrs. Craig and Ms. Dadas.

Each event served as an opportunity for students to receive information and resources on suicide prevention, how to seek help and support one another. Future activities are in the planning stages as part of the CHHS and MetroHealth School Health Program partnership that brought the Virtual Tiger Talks to students and parents last school year.

Dr. Ramirez, PhD, ABPP, is a child psychologist at the Metrohealth Main Campus. She serves as Director for Community and Behavioral Health and is an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.
