nathaniel tisch 2023 2024 imd senior soloist Nov. 8, 2023 -- Nathaniel Tisch will be the featured senior soloist during the Instrumental Music Department’s Fall Concert on November 15 at 7:00 p.m.

He will play Ludwig van Beethoven’s Romance No. 2 in F Major for Violin and Orchestra with the Heights High Symphony.

“From the first time I worked with Nathaniel, it was clear he had a very keen ear and advanced skills,” said Daniel Heim, the Director of Orchestras for Cleveland Heights High School. “He is also always eager to play even more challenging music than what we were preparing.”

Nathaniel Tisch has been playing the violin since the age of five. Throughout this time, he has studied violin at the Cleveland Music Settlement with James Rhodes, Sylvia Wehrs, and Callista Koh. Nathaniel has been active in the CH-UH instrumental music program since the second grade when he joined the Gearity Professional Development School Orchestra under Robert Adamson. This is his fourth year in the Heights High Symphony Orchestra.

While a member of the Heights High Symphony, Nathaniel was a co-concertmaster of the pit orchestra for last year's school musical, Sister Act, and is an active member in chamber ensembles. He has participated in the Reaching Heights Summer Music Camp five times, four of them as a camper and once as a high school counselor. Nathaniel has also served as a counselor at The Music Settlement’s Suzuki Camp three times.

Nathaniel is currently a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Principal Second Violinist of Kaboom Collective Studio Orchestra under Liza Grossman. During the summer of 2023, he toured three countries in Europe with the Blue Lake International Youth Orchestra.

Outside of music, Nathaniel plays tennis for Heights High and is a four-year Varsity Swim Team member, culminating in his role as Swim Captain this year. He enjoys working as a summer lifeguard at University Heights’ Purvis Park pool, is a co-founder of Heights High’s Ping Pong Club, and enjoys lunchtime card games with his classmates.

Nathaniel has also been active in Scouting since he was eight years old and just earned the rank of Eagle Scout during the past year. As part of his Scouting leadership activities, Nathaniel performed a service project to plant trees and improve landscaping to benefit the community at the University Heights Public Library.

Nathaniel is planning to attend college next year where he expects to study World History and Music.

Three seniors were selected to perform as soloists during the 2023-24 school year, this is the first of three concerts for the year that will include a soloist.
