Students can apply to one of the following the Career and Technical Education Programs in their sophomore year. The programs are for juniors and seniors.
Audio Engineering - Students learn the skills necessary to be successful in an entry-level position in the audio industry. Those skills include music theory, piano skills, composition, digital audio theory, digital signal processing, acoustics, electronic music, recording technology, mixing, and microphone design & application. These skills will prepare them for certification, college degree or entry-level position in the audio, broadcasting, music education, media or video gaming industries.
Automotive Technology - Students use the same state-of-the-art tools, equipment and cutting-edge technology as professional mechanics to identify mechanical or electrical problems, maintain, and repair all automotive systems in an on-site ASE-certified auto repair business with an opportunity to earn both college credit and industry credentials.
Business Management Technology - Students use advanced software applications and effective techniques to complete innovative business projects related to accounting and finance and perform a wide range of business management procedures that involve document and spreadsheet preparation. Students learn to utilize ethical standards, confidentiality and professionalism while acquiring skills in organization, leadership, planning, interpersonal communications, delegating and supervising. They graduate prepared for immediate employment, advanced certifications, and further education towards a degree in Accounting & Finance, Business Management, Human Resources or Marketing.
Clinical Health Careers - Students will learn the core curriculum required of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals including: anatomy, physiology, infection control, therapeutic communication, medical law and ethics while mastering hands-on skills needed to assist with exams and procedures and care for patients. They will gain real-world experience in healthcare working side by side with doctors and nurses as they complete clinical rotations at HealthSpan’s Cleveland Heights Medical Center. (Rotations include internal medicine, pediatrics, oncology, pharmacy, physical therapy, the gastroenterology procedure lab and emergency room)
Computer Networking Technology - Students design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot complex computer network systems in a challenging, project-based environment, using realistic simulations to develop decision making and teamwork skills in a Cisco Networking Academy environment. Students are eligible to take the Cisco Certified Networking Associate Exam to receive recognized, industry leading CCNA certification.
Cosmetology - Cosmetology students will provide a wide-range of hair, nail, and skin care services in a full-service salon setting while preparing to successfully complete the Ohio State Board Exam and become licensed cosmetologists.
Criminal Justice - Criminal Justice students develop both mind and body using advanced self-defense tactics and fitness training while researching and analyzing current trends and issues in civil and criminal law. Successful program graduates will earn state recognized credentials (OPOTA) and find immediate opportunities upon graduation for employment or higher education.
Digital Video Production - Digital Video Production exposes students to the vast areas of video production. From researching a project, developing a story angle, interviewing techniques, editing on cutting edge software - Final Cut Pro X - students will make stories come to life.
Exercise Science & Sports Medicine - Students in this fast paced active program will study the science of human movement while exploring a wide range of sports medicine and fitness careers through practical lab experiences and high-level academic coursework to develop the skills necessary to become an athletic trainer or a physical/occupational therapist including opportunities that can lead to careers working with professional athletes.
Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - In this program students will learn all the skills needed to work at a firehouse. Skills include the science of firefighting, fire prevention and the safety and hazards associated with fires. Students study the behavior, suppression, compartmentalization, investigation of fire and its related emergencies and Emergency Medical Technician training.
Graphic Imaging Technology - Graphic Imaging Technology students will design and produce advertising and marketing projects from concept to completion including estimating, ordering materials, following job specifications, and delivering client projects on schedule using the same computer hardware/software as professional graphic designers.
Marketing Management - The two year Marketing Management program includes extensive study in marketing, sales, advertising & promotion, visual merchandising, human relations, and employability skills with a direct pathway toward working in a marketing related position in the community. Students have the opportunity to earn as they learn, as well as receive college credit.
Pharmacy Technician - Students enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician program will explore a wide range of pharmaceutical principles, career concepts, and skills needed to become a pharmacy technician. Skills include: assisting pharmacists with prescriptions, answering patient questions about medications and participating in retail pharmacy procedures through a state of the art lab. Upon successful completion, and passage of the appropriate examination, the student can be eligible to become a nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
Family and Consumer Sciences - prepares students for success and independence by providing opportunities to learn valuable life skills in nutrition and wellness in a lab based environment.
