Heights High A Cappella Choir Earns Highest OMEA Rating

A cappella choir at Reaching Musical Heights

March 26, 2019 -- The 67-member Heights High A Cappella Choir received the highest possible rating of Superior at the Ohio Music Educators Association District (OMEA) Large Group Adjudicated Event on March 8 at Mentor High School. 
 
The group performed three pieces in the most demanding category, Class AA, and received a score of ‘1’ from all the judges for performance and sight reading.

The song selections performed by the group were: Abendlied, by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, With a Lily in Your Hand, by Eric Whitacre and Unclouded Day, arranged by Shawn Kirchner.  

Because of their Superior performance, the A Cappella Choir is invited to perform at the OMEA State Competition on May 4 in Medina. 

Jesse Lange is the Vocal Music Director and Kim Sudduth is the assistant.
