Dear Noble Families,

Yesterday we successfully completed the end of the 2016-2017 school year. I am so proud of our Noble Tigers for all their hard work and perseverance. We shared many happy memories this year, welcomed new students and families who quickly became new friends, learned and mastered exciting skills and concepts, and most importantly continued our love for learning. Following are some of the highlights of our awesome year:

  • $10,000 donation from Burlington Fashions at Oakwood Commons

  • Kick Off to Summer Literacy Night

  • Fifth grade promotion for the graduating class of 2024

  • Preschool promotion for the graduation class of 2030

Summer Choice Boards

This school year our Building Leadership Team (BLT) and Intervention Specialists attend a year long training on Universal Design. One component of the training involved providing students with multiple opportunities to show their learning via the use of choice boards. As part of our end of year grade level meetings each team (grades K-4) created choice boards for their students to complete over the summer. The boards are full of fun and educational activities that your students can complete alone and/or with your assistance. Completed boards are due the first day of school. Students who have completed their boards will receive their first A.V.I.D. certificate for advancing their education during the summer break.

Choice Boards were sent home with you student but you can also access them by clicking on the following respective link located below:

What’s Next?

This school year Noble staff prepared to become the district’s first A.V.I.D. (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elementary School. I along with Mrs. Buckner (Noble’s Counselor) and Mrs. Ware (Noble’s Title I Lead and Instructional Coach), and other district representatives attended the National A.V.I.D. Conference in Texas. We were all so excited to return to Noble with the wonderful ideas and planning strategies for the upcoming year. In June I, along with eight of our staff members representing grades kindergarten through fifth grades, will attend the A.V.I.D. Summer Institute Training in Florida. When we return we will share and implement the practices and strategies with our teammates to begin our first year of A.V.I.D.

Look for our first Noble A.V.I.D. Newsletter to be released August 2017. Information will be provided to learn more about the program and how you can partner with us as we build a strong foundation for your scholar to compete academically on a local, national, and global level.

Have a Wonderful and Relaxing Summer!

March 2017
Dear Noble Families and Community Members,

Noble’s One Book One School Program is off to a great start. The entire student and staff population is reading the BFG by Roald Dahl. Each student and staff member received their own copy of the book and each night students and family members are asked to follow our reading calendar. Parents can read to students and vice versa. At home, this is a great way to spend quality time with one another while instilling a love for reading. At school there are contests and prizes given away for students who are able to “Stump the Principal” and “Stump the Teacher” by creating comprehension questions from the book, that I or other staff members are unable to correctly answer. Students are also able to receive prizes for answering trivia questions from our nighty readings. Our BFG Finale will take place on Wednesday, March 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. On the agenda are our 5th grade BFG musical and BFG fun stations that allow students and parents to explore various parts of the book.

PTA – Our PTA hosted a Skating Party on Thursday, March 9th at United Skates. A good time was had by all who attended. The total cost of the admission was given back to the PTA by the skating rink to use for student projects and teachers initiated activities that promote academic growth and engagement. Our March PTA meeting is Wednesday, March 8th. There is a potluck dinner from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. and the meeting is from 7:00 - 8:00. Childcare is provided, and we welcome your attendance and participation.

I look forward to continuing to partner with you in our Noble Tigers’ education and character development. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer in our school or at our BFG Finale please feel free to contact me by telephone or email.

Sincerely,

Rachael Coleman, M.Ed.
