April 27, 2016 -- Students in Cynthia Booker’s Digital Video Production 1 class produced a 17-minute mock news program that includes feature stories about students’ use of social media and the importance of respecting others, a news segment on the water quality in Flint MI, weather, public service announcements, fashion tips, commercials, movie reviews and sports.
To produce the piece, students learned to create a rundown (list of everything in the newscast) wrote the scripts, videotaped interviews, edited the scripts, video and audio.
Cynthia Booker is the Digital Media teacher and worked as a television anchor and reporter prior to her career in teaching. “The students did a great job of creating the newscast" said Mrs. Booker. “They are learning skills that are needed to produce a newscast. Now they realize that it takes a lot of planning with many hands to make a newscast happen.”
The students use Apple’s Final Cut Pro X to create the news program.
