Jaylen Harris Named to Buckeye Blue Chips Squad

Jaylen Harris

Nov. 24, 2015 – Cleveland Heights junior wide receiver Jaylen Harris has been named to the 2015 Buckeye Blue Chips squad by the Touchdown Club of Columbus. Only 24 players across the state received the honor, and Harris is one of only eight underclassmen included on the team.

Harris finished the season with 42 receptions for 796 yards. He also rushed 15 times for 105 yards. Harris scored five touchdowns on the season.

The 6-5, 210-pound receiver has earned a number of honors this fall. He was a first team All-Lake Erie League selection, an All-Cuyahoga County pick, and All-District selection and most likely an All-State honoree as well.

Harris, who is one of the top college recruits in the country for the class of 2017, led the Tigers to a Lake Erie League championship and a berth in the state playoffs this past fall. Heights dropped its first four games of the season but battled back to win four of its last five and go undefeated in LEL play. The Tigers nearly pulled the upset of No. 1 St. Edward in the opening round of the playoffs but eventually fell to the defending state champs.

Harris will be formally honored at the 61st Touchdown Club of Columbus Awards on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion.
