Imagination Library Comes to the Heights

Oct. 18, 2017 -- Did you know that “the single most important factor influencing a child's early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home before starting school”? (National Commission on Reading). As a parent or caregiver, reading daily with your child is one of the most important actions you can take to help set them up for future success.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library supports families with young children in Cleveland Heights and University Heights through its unique book-gifting program. The program mails a new, age appropriate, high quality book to registered children each month.

Enrollment forms are available at the elementary building offices, registration office, the Cleveland Heights Community Center, Lee Road and Noble Library branches. You can find more information and/or enroll online at Please help us spread the word about this program so we can register every eligible child (under 5 years old) and promote a love of books and reading.

Children cherish the personalized books they receive each month through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. When parents and caregivers read to their children, it also exposes them to a larger, more diverse vocabulary and greater variety of sentence structures than just talking to them. Children are exposed to the many “concepts of print” and develop alphabetic knowledge, phonological awareness and memory – all essential skills leading to school readiness and future academic success.

Since 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has delivered more than 90 million books to children in more than 2,000 local communities worldwide.
