Heights Middle School Holds Annual Spelling Bee

Jan. 17, 2019 -- After 25 riveting rounds of spelling, champions were named at the Annual Heights Middle School Spelling Bee. 
 
Seventh grader Sophia Muller is the Roxboro spelling champion, with winning word prevaricate. Seventh grader Natalie Bier won second place. Seventh graders Clara Lyford and Ruby Tugeau tied for third place. Seventh grader Christian Tyson-Thomas was the Monticello champion.

The Cleveland.com Cuyahoga County Spelling Bee is at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 23 in the auditorium of the Tri-C Metropolitan Campus. Sophia and Christian will represent Roxboro and Monticello middle schools, respectively.

The eight spellers who participated in the Roxboro bee were Clara Lyford, Sophia Muller, Natalie Bier, Christian Tyson-Thomas, Amelia King, Rafael De La Barrera, Jada Strother, and Ruby Tugeau.

The words in the bee were as follows (underlined words were misspelled):
