Mar. 21, 2018 -- The work of Heights Middle School art teacher Jerome White is on display at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Art Gallery in the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The art is from his self-published and illustrated book Red Tail Dreamer.

 

White was honored at a reception at the gallery on February 15. The display will run through April or June 2018.

 

 

 

 

 

Last year, as White was raising funds for the project, he explained that the idea for the book came to him after watching the film Red Tails. The story is about a young boy in the 1940s who daydreams of becoming a pilot, hearing the roar of airplane engines above him day after day. He adds that it is a tribute to his late grandfather, who served as a physical education instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen.
