Local Church Helps Rox El Families During Holidays

Jan. 23, 2018 -- St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Roxboro Elementary School volunteers connected over the holidays to provide 10 Rox families with needed food, clothes and toys.

Reverend Dale Grandfield reached out to school counselor Dr. Michelle Jackson and Building Rox representative India Messig before break to ask if there was a need at the school and how they could help.

Dr. Jackson and Meesig informed Reverend Grandfield that 10 families were in need of food, clothes and toys. The church graciously provided $1,500 in gift cards to Walmart, Dave's Grocery store and Toys "R" Us.

Dr. Jackson and her daughter, Joy, shopped for each family. The materials were packed in a laundry basket and personalized according to what each family needed, and delivered by Dr. Jackson and her daughter, Joy.

The toys were educational puzzles and games. Each family received a board game for family play.

A photo album and thank you cards from the recipient families were presented to Reverend Grandfield this past weekend.

"There truly are no words to express how elated Reverend Grandfield was to receive the album/thank you cards; how much my daughter Joy and I enjoyed shopping for our families; and how overwhelmed with joy our families were to receive the gifts and food baskets," Dr. Jackson said.
