District Accepting Applications for Gifted Program Root Cause Analysis Committee

Mar. 1, 2024 -- The CH-UH City School District is now accepting applications for the Gifted Program Root Cause Analysis Committee. Students, families, staff, and community members are welcome to apply.

MISSION: Through a Root Cause Analysis, the committee will identify issues within the district’s control that are contributing to various levels of underrepresented groups of children who are disproportionately identified as gifted compared to the rates of other students according to our district demographics. This analysis will include proposed solutions and next steps resulting in the sustained growth of this demographic and the equitable service practices and continuum that shall be established according to the State of Ohio’s Gifted Operating Standards.

CREATION: The creation of the Root Cause Analysis Committee shall include CH-UH partners (administrators, educators, community members, parents/guardians, and students), and will be based on an application process for community members and parents/guardians, administrators, and educators.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The CH-UH City School District and the Board of Education believe family engagement and two-way communication are essential to improving district decisions and outcomes for students. The root cause analysis committee will recommend services needed in CH-UH, including staffing, educational options, equitable access, and support for underrepresented populations. The root cause analysis committee will propose solutions and next steps as part of the process.

We appreciate members’ commitment to the district’s Strategic Plan goal of making a foundation for future academic success. Our collective plan will reflect our commitment to preparing our students for a future that is bright and beneficial to our city and state.

DURATION: A root cause analysis committee will meet 5-6 times in the spring of 2024 in the evenings.

MEMBERSHIP: Our goal is for the root cause analysis committee to include staff, family, and community members who represent the diversity of CH-UH Schools. We are seeking members who can provide valuable insight, expertise, and perspectives on ways to improve our disproportionate identification of gifted students. Members should bring a collaborative spirit, open mind, a willingness to engage in inquiry, meaningful dialogue, and trust in the root cause analysis process.

Submit this Google Form to apply for the committee. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2024.

Thank you for completing the application and for your interest in joining the Gifted Program Root Cause Analysis. Your submitted application will be routed to Toia Robinson at [email protected].
