Nov. 3, 2023 -- Students in grades 4-12 are invited to enter the 34th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest sponsored by East View United Church of Christ in Shaker Heights. Students can earn scholarship awards by submitting an outstanding essay addressing this year’s theme: “Martin Luther King planned to lead the Poor People's March before his death. What can be done to eradicate poverty in the United States?”

The contest deadline is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Submissions can be sent to the church (15615 Chagrin Blvd, Shaker Heights, OH 44120). Winners will be notified by phone and honored at East View's MLK Essay Awards Program on January 15, 2024. View the flyer for word counts, criteria, and prizes.
