Monticello PTA Hosts Coffee With Superintendent Event

Mar. 19, 2024 -- Bridging the communication gap is a top priority for CH-UH’s school district. Superintendent Kirby is committed to meaningful conversation and has kicked off her Spring Coffee conversation tour where she will visit Roxboro Middle, Monticello, and Heights High to meet with school administrators, staff, parents, and board members to talk about what’s happening inside our schools. On Thursday, March 14, Monticello’s PTA hosted Coffee with Superintendent Kirby.

During the hour-long event, Monticello’s administration and teaching staff gave a quick glimpse into what’s going on daily at Monti. Principal Dr. Jeffrey Johnston, discussed how they’re implementing our district-wide attendance campaign, Every Minute Counts, by promoting students make it to class on time, as well as the upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. Assistant Principal Brigitte Pronty spoke about improving school safety, and the importance of working with students and families. Title 1 Literacy Teacher Mikia Searcy and Eighth Grade English Teacher Anisha Corbin explained how they’re working together to prepare students for the essay portion of the state tests by moving students up into small groups and showing them how to decode sentences. Superintendent Kirby spoke with attendees and answered questions.

The next Coffee with the Superintendent will be held on April 11 from 9-10 a.m. at Roxboro Middle School. All community members are invited.
