Letter to Senior parents from College Readiness Counselor - August 23, 2022

Letter to Seniors from Principal Dr. Alisa Lawson-McKinnie - 7/28/2022

Dear Heights High Seniors,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope this letter finds you in good health, relaxed and rejuvenated for your final year at Cleveland Heights High School! You have conquered the last three years of high school with resiliency and a sense of perseverance that the staff and I admire tremendously!

We will continue to prepare you for college, career, and citizenship this year. Our goal is to provide you with experiences, exposure, expertise and to meet your expectations both inside and outside of the classroom. There are many responsibilities that come with being a “Senior” as the other students look to you for guidance and mentorship in taking the next steps. Your leadership and conduct will set the tone!

If you plan to drive to school, this year there is a Student Parking form you must complete. You will find this form in Mrs. Holland’s office (Main Office area). Students will receive a hanging Parking Placard that must be visible during the school day. There is a fee of $10 (cash only) for each semester.  Door #4 will be accessible in the morning for students who are driving, as student parking is across the street from the high school in the parking lot behind Wendy’s.

We plan to bring back the Senior Project this year! We will discuss requirements during the first Senior and Parent meeting on September 14th led by the senior principal, Mr. John Fullerman, the Guidance department, and the senior advisors, Mrs. Karen Kastor and Mr. Patrick Fisher.

We welcome Mrs. Tiesha McEwen, our new College Readiness guidance counselor. Ms. Michelle Phelps will lead Career Readiness. The topics both will cover include:

College and Career Planning/Researching Post-Secondary Options
College Application Assistance
SAT/ACT Information
College Rep Visits
College Visits
Financial Aid and Scholarship Information
Job/Internships Opportunities
Military Opportunities
Resume and Interview Tips
Fee Waiver Information
Community Service Opportunities
NCAA Information

Please review and save #2023 Seniors!  HS 2 The Future! to stay focused throughout the school year!  We are here to help, to listen, to guide and to support you!

Looking forward to an amazing year!
Dr. Alisa McKinnie
