Facilities Accountability Committee Meeting Recap

Facilities Accountability Committee Meeting Recap

Members of the Facilities Accountability Committee (FAC) met January 22 at the Board of Education and received an update on the Heights High Renovation Project.

Design Team members Pat O’Brien and Scott Wagner presented the budget to FAC members and agreed to provide more line item detail at the February FAC meeting.

O’Brien said the plan is for the High School Design Development Phase to be completed by the end of January, allowing the construction schedule to move along as planned. As discussions continue around Design Development, O’Brien said there’s the chance that the construction schedule could face delays.

Career Technical Education (CTE)

Members of the CTE Working Group plan to meet on Tuesday, January 27 with Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andrea Celico and CTE teachers about plans for the CTE Program at Heights High.

Historic Preservation

The Historic Preservation Committee will be storing items that will be removed from the High School at the former Coventry School building. The committee plans to conduct an upcoming walk-through of the school to make sure items are specifically identified for the archives and items that will be re-purposed in the newly-renovated high school. Design Team member Pat O’Brien said it’s important for this information to be conveyed to the Design Team so that it’s included on the drawings.

Fundraising

A consultant has been hired to assist with fundraising in the areas of: Athletics, Arts, Heights High (building itself) and Applied Science.

The City of Cleveland Heights' Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 11 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to address the High School Renovation Project. Citizens are allowed to comment at that time.

The February FAC meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015  (7 p.m.) in the Board of Education Board Room.

The mission of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District’s Facilities Accountability Committee (FAC) is to monitor and regularly report to the Board of Education regarding the status, progress and expenditure of funds for Phase 1 of the District’s comprehensive plan, as authorized by District voters as Issue 81 in November 2013.
