Science Olympiad

Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools’ Science Olympiad teams competed at the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Case Western Reserve University. The competition involved teams of up to 15 students competing in 23 different events encompassing all areas of science, in which they took written tests, lab tests, and tested devices students designed and built themselves.

Our four teams of intrepid scientists worked hard all day and competed among 25 of the best teams in the state, including the reigning state champion. Monticello finished in 19th place overall.

Monticello’s team consisted of: David Adams, Suvedini Ainkaran, Vincent Bellini, Emily Cassady, Adelle Dooner, Grant Gober, Nareus Hardin, Zelda Thayer-Hansen, Rhiannon Kuntz, Chantee McMillan, Lillyanna Prech, Leela Rajeswaran, Maria Tarnay, Sarai Truitt, Joshua Wendorf and Miranda Wyse.

Monticello Middle School’s team were led by coaches Deborah Frost, Anthony Provenzale, and Tiffany Underhile,

We are very proud of all of our students who worked very hard preparing for this competition throughout the school day and after-school sessions. Even through extreme weather conditions and school cancellations, our team came ready and prepared for Saturday’s competition. Go Tigers!
