Transportation Department Recognized for Maintaining Buses - Changes in Annual Inspection

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Transportation Department has been recognized by the Ohio Department of Public Safety for a job well done during its Annual School Bus inspection for the 2014-15 school year.

In a letter to the Transportation Department, ODPS states that the CH-UH School District, “consistently has been observed as being one of the best during annual inspection and that our District has displayed professionalism and pride in maintaining our fleet of school buses.”

The letter ends by mentioning that with the continued efforts of the CH-UH School District, the State of Ohio will continue making  bus transportation the safest way to transport children, the state’s greatest assets.

The Licensing and Commercial Standards section of the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducts the annual inspections. 

Annual Bus Inspection Changes

  • April 1, 2015 - Spot Inspections will be completed by this date for the 2014-15 school year.
  • May 1, 2015 – Annual School Bus Inspections will begin instead of June 1, 2015.
  • August 2015 – School buses will be re-inspected.
  • October 1, 2015 – Spot Inspections will begin for the 2015-16 school year.

The goal is to have all Annual School Bus Inspections completed by July 31.
