May 21, 2019 -- Jr Bremer, a key member of the Cleveland Heights Tigers 1997 State Championship team, is returning to his alma mater as Head Boys Basketball Coach.

"We are excited to welcome back one of our most successful alumni to lead our basketball program,” said Athletic Director Joe D’Amato. “No one knows the expectations that come along with leading the Heights basketball program more than Jr. That confidence will help elevate Cleveland Heights to a level of prominence in both Northeast Ohio and across the state.

“Jr knows what it takes to be successful not just at Cleveland Heights but also collegiately and as a professional. This will resonate with our current and future players."

A 1997 graduate of Heights High, Bremer went on to play collegiately at St. Bonaventure. During that time he earned the Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player, First Team All-Conference, MVP of an NCAA Tournament Game, and was fourth in the nation in scoring during his senior season. He finished his collegiate career ranked seventh in career scoring at St. Bonaventure.

Bremer’s professional basketball career spanned three NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors. He went on to have a 13-year international career that saw him play in six different countries.

Upon retiring in 2017, Bremer began his coaching career. He most recently served as an assistant coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tomorrow, he takes over as the Tigers’ sixth head coach in the post-Jim Cappelletti era.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Heights. The school and community have given me so much and helped me in so many ways on and off the court,” said Bremer. “It's my turn to try and help our youth and provide support; it's my turn to try and impact as many lives as I can. I want to share everything I have learned and been through to help build more great student-athletes and, even more importantly, great men."

Bremer was recently inducted into the CHHS Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. He was honored during a ceremony on May 3, 2019. He had his jersey No. 22 retired by the high school last December.

"Jr brings the ability to connect our current players with our storied history and most notably unite our community. Cleveland Heights is at it's strongest when we are all working together,” added D’Amato.
