June 8, 2023 -- Dr. Brandon Towns has been officially named the Administrative Principal of Heights High School, effective August 1, 2023.

Dr. Towns is currently the 9th Grade Assistant Principal at Heights High. He has served as an assistant principal at the school since 2021.

“Dr. Towns is a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary leader, and we look forward to seeing him take Heights High School to new levels of excellence,” said Superintendent Liz Kirby.

Prior to coming to Heights High, Dr. Towns served as an assistant principal for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District from 2019-2021 and as a Curriculum & Instruction Specialist for CMSD from 2016-2018. Dr. Towns was a 2012 Woodrow Wilson Ohio Teaching Fellow and received his PhD in Urban Education from Cleveland State University in 2022. Dr. Towns also holds a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Dayton.

“I truly look forward to continuing to serve Tiger Nation in this leadership role,” said Dr. Towns. “Our administrative team and I are more committed than ever to ensuring that our school delivers the high-quality education that our students, families, and community expect and deserve.”

Dr. Alisa Lawson-McKinnie, who served as the Interim Administrative Principal for the last two school years, retires this year after a decade of dedicated service to Heights High School.
