Jan. 29, 2016 – Former Heights High football standout Travis Kelce was one of the top players in the NFL this season and is slated to play in the Pro Bowl on Sunday in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Kelce recently finished his third season as a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs after being drafted out of the University of Cincinnati in 2013. Kelce earned his first Pro Bowl selection after catching 65 passes for 822 yards and four touchdowns in 2015.

Kelce’s 822 receiving yards ranked fifth in the NFL among tight ends this season. Over the past two years, Kelce ranks among the top four in the NFL in yardage (1,684) and ranks first in yards after catch for tight ends (1,026).

Kelce is one of six Chiefs who will be playing in the Pro Bowl on Sunday. The game will be broadcast by ESPN at 7:00 p.m. ET. Kelce and the Chiefs earned a wild card berth into the AFC Playoffs this season before falling in the divisional round to the New England Patriots.

Kelce is a 2008 Heights High graduate. He was an All-Lake Erie League quarterback for Heights after totaling 2,539 yards of total offense as a senior. Kelce collected 1,016 yards rushing, including 10 touchdowns and 1,523 passing yards on 103-of-198 attempts, with 21 scores and eight interceptions in 2007.

Kelce then went on to star as a tight end at Cincinnati before being selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by Kansas City.

Kelce is the younger brother of fellow Heights alum Jason Kelce, a center with the Philadelphia Eagles.
