Board of Education Meeting Summary - February 7, 2023

Feb. 8, 2023 -- At the monthly regular Board of Education meeting on February 7, Heights High students shared happenings at the school, Roxboro Elementary School leaders presented information about their school counseling program, and the Board approved resolutions recognizing African-American History Month and Pride Month.

Meeting Overview

Heights High School junior Dashara Turner and senior Taylor Evans delivered the Superintendent’s Student Cadre Report, sharing updates on Heights High news and personal reflections on the school year.
During Regular Board of Education meetings, representatives from a CH-UH school share points of pride in the Monthly School Spotlight. For February, Roxboro Elementary school counselor Lindsy Self gave an overview of the school’s innovative counseling program and its positive impact on students.
Director of Curriculum & Instruction Dr. Christy Bauer and Instructional Specialist Karen Heinsbergen presented recommendations to the Board for the adoption of new K-12 ELA/English curricular materials.
Superintendent Kirby shared updates on the past month’s work within the five goals of the District’s Strategic Plan.
Chief Financial Officer Scott Gainer delivered his “3 Things” report, a monthly initiative to educate stakeholders on school funding.
The Board approved a Resolution to Recognize African-American History Month and its Significance to CH-UH School District and a Resolution to Recognize Pride Month and its Significance to CH-UH School District. Both resolve that the months’ respective flags will fly in front of Heights High School.
