Career Based Intervention

Career Based Intervention (CBI) is a work study program designed to give students the opportunity to complete their education while learning the obligations of the world of work. The purpose of CBI is to guide the students toward the successful completion of a Career and Technical Education or academic high school program. Local businesses cooperate to provide training in field occupations. The instructor cooperatively with the supervision of the employer coordinates the work experience.

The Career Based Intervention Program is a good choice for a student who:

  • Wants to start a career after high school
  • Plans to attend a two or four year college

For students who want to enter the work force right after high school, the CBI program offers real world work experience and in some instances, ample employment opportunities. The daily program consists of in-depth instruction and time for students to learn and practice skills. The program focuses on teamwork, employability skills, customer service, life skills, and career choices based on student’s skills and interest. The CBI program includes safety awareness, personal development, personal health, and personal money management.

Many students use the CBI program to get a head start on a career before attending college. The practical applications of the CBI program can help students understand what is expected in the work place. Work experience is considered part of the student’s curriculum.

Career Based Intervention students will have a better understanding of business and the world of work. CBI students develop proper attitudes toward work, personal relations, school and society. Students will have an excellent reference and the experience necessary for future jobs. They will earn money and work experience while attending school and will receive a sound educational base and a high school diploma.
