IMPORTANT PAYROLL INFORMATION

Please note below some information from CHUH payroll
department about 27 pays for the 22-23 school year.

The below information was sent out twice in district DL emails from the payroll department.
Salaries are normally spread out over 26 pays in a year (pay date
every other Friday). However, for employers with payroll on this
bi-weekly schedule, a calendar anomaly called “payroll creep” occurs
approximately every eleventh year whereby the year contains an
additional, 27th Friday pay date. In this situation, the annual salary
is divided by 27 pay dates rather than 26.

For CH-UH, fiscal year (22-23) is a 27 pay date year. As such,
please note you will still receive your full salary for the fiscal year but
it will be divided by 27 rather than 26, resulting in a slightly lower
biweekly amount.
Example –
$35,000/26 = $1,346.15 gross biweekly pay
$35,000/27 = $1,296.20 gross biweekly pay
In the above example, the employee still receives $35,000 during the
year but the gross pay is $49.85 less per pay due to 27 pay dates.
If receiving a slightly smaller check throughout the year is a concern
for you, please make arrangements now to save a little from your
current pays in preparation. You may also consider using the
Credit Union for this purpose with a credit union deduction.
